Caramelised onion & cream cheese hot dogs
Take your culinary journey to new heights with this delicious hot dog filled with cream cheese. Garnished with sweet caramelised red onion, crunchy walnuts and fresh rocket.

Caramelised red onion
300 g (3–4 pieces) red onion
1 tbsp rapeseed oil
1 tbsp sugar
1 tbsp balsamic vinegar
Other ingredients
50 g (1 dl) walnuts
1 pot wild rocket
200 g (1 pack) cream cheese
Prepare the caramelised onion. Peel, split and slice the onions. Sauté the onion in a pan with oil for a few minutes. Add sugar and vinegar. Cook for about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally until the onions are sticky and soft.
Crush the nuts. Rinse and tear the rocket into bite-sized pieces.
Place the frankfurters on baking paper on a tray and cook in an oven at 180 °C for 10 minutes. Add the buns and heat for another 2 minutes.
Spread a generous layer of cream cheese on both halves of the hot dog buns, add the frankfurter, with the caramelised onion on top. Garnish with nuts and rocket.
Tip! Try the fun spiral frankfurters: Push a skewer as straight as possible lengthwise through the middle of the frankfurter. Cut the surface of the frankfurter with a knife in approximately 2½ cm increments while rotating it away from you. Carefully remove the stick and cook the frankfurter.
